Top gaming provider Pragmatic Play has donated €100,000 ($172,257) to the British Red Cross in Gibraltar, to help the Turkey-Syria earthquake crisis victims.
Earlier in February 2023, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck southern and central Turkey in the early hours of the morning. The earthquake also struck northern and western Syria.
So far the crisis has claimed over 51,100 lives, and has led to a number of roads, hospitals and residential buildings to collapse.
The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) forwarded the generous donation to the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal, with Pragmatic Play hoping that their contribution can help undo some of the damage caused by the earthquake.
The donation will also be used towards providing emergency medical treatment, food, shelter, warm blankets, and other emergency provisions.
Pragmatic Play CEO, Julian Jarvis, commented on how important it is for action to be taken, and to be done so swiftly.
In his comments, Jarvis described the situation as being truly devastating, and emphasised that Pragmatic Play will continue to show its solidarity with those in need.
Jarvis added that Pragmatic Play proudly supports the British Red Cross and the humanitarian efforts they showed in the affected areas.
Pragmatic Play’s CEO concluded his statement by urging for more donations to ensure that Turkey and Syria can continue to receive urgent aid, in a time of such great need.
Meanwhile, British Red Cross Gibraltar Branch Commander Edward L. Davies thanked Pragmatic Play for their donation, and added that this will help the British Red Cross to continue providing help to those affected by the earthquake.
Commander Davies also stated that with the Red Cross’ important work still going on, the organisation welcomes more donations to be used for those in dire need.
